Music is meant to be heard.
Through the year RAAGA holds concerts, workshops, lecture demonstrations and observances — and every one of them exists so that students have somewhere to sing.
Through the year
What we hold.
- Concerts
- Kutcheris where students perform the repertoire they have prepared, in the traditional concert format.
- Workshops
- Focused sessions on a particular aspect of practice — a raga, a form, or an element of technique.
- Lecture demonstrations
- Explanatory sessions where the music is unpacked as it is sung, for students and for listeners new to the tradition.
- Guru Purnima
- The annual observance honouring the teacher, and the lineage the teaching descends from.
- Tyagaraja Aradhana
- The annual commemoration of Saint Tyagaraja, whose kritis form the heart of the Carnatic concert repertoire.
- Student performances
- Recitals through the year that give every student an occasion to sing for an audience.
Dates for the coming term are confirmed with students first. Message us if you would like to be told when the next kutcheri or workshop is announced.
